In a rake-wheel type of haymaking machine, the main frame is made in two parts, 1, 8 pivoted together, the foremost part 1 having means for connection to the hitch-links of a tractor 33 and the rear part 8 having mountings for the rake-wheels 11 so arranged that when the machine is used for tedding, the foremost rake-wheel discharges its swath behind the track of one of the tractor wheels 38, but in a direction away from the longitudinal median plane of the tractor. The part 1 comprises two arched beams 2, 3, diverging forwardly and united nearer their front ends by cross-beams 4, 5, the lower crossbeam carrying bearings for caster-wheels 32 and hitch-connections for the lower links, and the upper beam carrying a hitchconnection from the upper link 36, the connection incorporating lost-motion in the form of a pair of intermediately-pivoted rockable links 24 of which the free ends can contact the cross-beam 5 when the implement is lifted. The rear ends of the beams 2, 3 are united to a vertical bearing 6 in which the main beam 8 is pivoted, the beam co-operating with a locking sector 17 on the bearing. Cranked stub-axles 10 are pivoted in vertical bearings 9 along the frame and carry rake wheels 11, their orientation being adjustable by locking sectors 12 and pins 16. In Fig. 1 the device is employed for tedding, but to convert the machine to a swath-turner, the rakewheel axles are turned in the direction of the arrow C and the beam in the direction B, so that the rake-wheels lie behind the beam and at a small angle to it.
