Abstract

A colourless electrographic material which becomes visibly coloured when its pH is increased above a certain value comprises a gelatin sized and glazed paper base coated with an acidstabilized diazonium salt and coupler composition. The coating mixture is formed by adding with stirring a methanol solution of 3-hydroxy-N-b -hydroxyethyl-2-naphthamide to a warmed gelatin solution of p-N-Morpholino-benzene diazonium zinc chloride containing potassium chloride and glycerol to which has been added a stabilizer solution of thiourea, boric acid and tartaric acid and sulphuric acid to give a pH of 2.3.
