Abstract
An aqueous solution of spiramycin adipate is prepared by adding water to a solid mixture of spiramycin and adipic acid particles and agitating the mass at ambient temperature.ALSO:A solid mixture for therapeutic use after dissolution in water comprises spiramycin and adipic acid, the particle size of the solids in the mixture being such that on addition of the mixture to water and agitation at ambient temperature an aqueous solution of spiramycin adipate is obtained within one minute. Equimolecular proportions of spiramycin and adipic acid may be used. The particle size may be such that all the particles pass through a 40 to 80-mesh B.S.S. sieve. The amount of water added may be such as to give up to a 30% (w/v) solution of spiramycin adipate. For mycoplasmosis in turkeys, a 10%-20% (w/v) solution of spiramycin adipate may be administered within 72 hours of formation.
