Abstract
1,005,523. Capacitors. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Aug. 5, 1964 [Aug. 6, 1963], No. 31797/64. Heading H1M. [Also in Division H2] An electrical component 1, e.g. a capacitor, is enclosed in a tubular case 1a whose end is sealed by an insulating cover plate 2 carrying a terminal 8 connecting to the component, which is connected by wire 7 to flexible insulated lead 5 which is sealed by adhesive into an aperture of a protective cap 4. The cover plate seats on a ridge of the casing wall which is swaged to retain the plate; the latter having exterior annular groove 3 into an under cut 10 of which fits annular projection 9 of the foot of the protective cap; retained by encompassing resilient washer 12 and sealed by adhesive. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the flexible lead emerges from the side of the protective cap, and in Fig. 3 (not shown) it is retained by a binding sleeve within the cap and comprises two wires connected to two terminals of the cover plate. The latter may be formed in situ by a mass of sealing compound.
