Percussive drills.-In a rock drill of the kind in which water is forced through the bit into the bore-hole, the nozzle 7 is loosely disposed in a recess in the bit-holder, or in a separate holder, and retained therein by a. nut 8 or other means. A perforated rubber or other packing 10 fits against the bit 3, and the upper end thereof is pressed against the walls of a recess 9 in the nozzle by the water pressure acting in a cup-shaped recess 11 in the packing. The water pressure advances the packing as the part bearing on the bit is worn away. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) states that the cross section of the packing is approximately uniform; this subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
