Abstract
A method of mixing a metal powder with a solid particulate lubricating agent comprises blending a proportion (10-20%) of the metal powder with the lubricant by passing them through a plurality of sieves (which may be vibrated) and agitating the mixture by shaking the container in which it is deposited; if the lubricant and metal tend to separate the blending is repeated. The blend is then added to the remainder of the metal and mixed in any convenient way. The method is applicable to the mixing of copper and lithium stearate to be subjected to compression in a compacting machine and to form an extended tube as described in Specification 1,005,179.
