1,001,232. Gas turbine fuel sustems. DOWTY FUEL SYSTEMS Ltd. April 19, 1962 [April 20, 1961], No. 14335/61. Addition to 834,916. Heading FIG. A fuel system for a gas turbine engine comprises a fuel pump 1 delivering to the engine combustion chamber, a by-pass valve responsive to an engine control and a slowly adjustable restrictor 23 which maintains a minimum fuel flow when the by-pass valve is substantially fully opened or fully opened. The setting of the by-pass valve is determined by the compression of a spring 9 acting on a rod 11 which contacts levers 13 of governor weights 6. The adjustable restrictor 23 is connected to the compressor inlet by a pipe 26 containing a fixed restrictor 27. Rapid movement of the lever 4 to reduce speed may open the by-pass valve to such an extent that insufficient fuel for combustion is pumped. This is prevented by the restrictor 23, the setting of which varies with atmospheric pressure.
