Abstract

1,000,988. Measuring pressure electrically. ROLLS-ROYCE Ltd. Dec. 19,1963, No. 50294/63. Heading G1N. The difference between two pressures applied to respective limbs of a U-tube is measured by an A.C. bridge comprising coils 44, 45, wound around the limbs of the U, whose inductances vary with liquid level and thus vary the balance of a Blumlein bridge. The output of the bridge is fed to a phase sensitive detector 63 and combined with a variable phase signal derived, 48, from the same source as the bridge e.m.f., so that the indicator 54 responds only to the resistive component of the bridge output signal.
