Abstract

1,060,319. Measuring ship's speed elcetrically. KOC KUMS MEKANISKA VERKSTADS A.B. April 12, 1965 [April 16, 1964], No. 15408/65. Heading G1N. A pressure cell 10 senses the difference between a pitot pressure and the static pressure, and a transducer 13 incorporating a strain gauge resistor produces an electrical signal directly proportional to this pressure difference; the transducer 13 is connected to a speed indicator 17 by way of an amplifier 14 which multiplies the pressure difference signal by a factor 2g and a computer 16 which produces a signal representing the square root of the multiplied signal and thus the speed corresponding to the measured pressure difference. A variable resistor 15 permits manual correction in respect of variations in the density of the medium through which the craft is moving. An integrator 18 drives a counter 19 to indicate the distance travelled.
