Abstract

1,000,634. Container stoppers; Jacket for containers. VAN LEER INDUSTRIES Ltd. Sept. 25, 1963 [Nov. 15, 1962], No. 43238/62. Headings B8D and B8T. A packaging container comprises a non- metallic inner shell 13 and a rigid outer shell 14 having an opening 15 surrounded by a collar 16 through which projects a neck 17 of the inner shell, the free edge 16a of the collar being flared radially outwards to engage a ridge 17a on the neck. The collar 16 is preferably joined to the outer shell by a curved portion 16b to facilitate pulling the neck 17 through the opening 15 when the container is assembled. In a preferred embodiment the collar has a downwardly facing surface 16c against which the lowermost edge 18a of a seal cap 18 can be turned to provide a tamper-proof seal which may also serve as a fluid-tight seal by providing a gasket 19. Leakage may be prevented by applying a closure plug 20 with a sealing ring 21 in the neck 17 before or instead of the seal cap.
