Abstract
L’invention porte sur une roue (1) de véhicule automobile pour laquelle le contact au sol s’effectue au moyen d’une pluralité de rouleaux (2) rotatifs en forme de tonneau agencés dans la largeur de la roue à plusieurs endroits de son pourtour avec les axes de rotation de tous les rouleaux (A-A) orientés dans une même direction oblique par rapport à l’axe de rotation (B-B) de la roue. L’invention concerne également un véhicule automobile équipé d’au moins trois de ces roues. La présente invention concerne le domaine des véhicules automobiles. L’invention porte en particulier sur une roue de véhicule automobile. L’invention concerne également un véhicule automobile équipé d’une telle roue. On connait du brevet US 3,876,255 la roue dite « mecanum » qui a été inventée par Bengt Ilon. Cette roue diffère des roues traditionnelles du fait que le contact au sol s’effectue au moyen d’une pluralité de rouleaux rotatifs en forme de tonneau qui sont agencés dans la largeur de la roue à plusieurs endroits de son pourtour avec les axes de rotation de tous les rouleaux orientés dans une même direction oblique par rapport à l’axe de rotation de la roue. Lorsque la roue tourne au contact du sol, les rouleaux génèrent une force de traction orientée obliquement par rapport au plan de rotation de la roue, ce qui permet à des véhicules équipés de telles roues de pouvoir réaliser des déplacements latéraux, en diagonale ou des rotations à 360°. Cependant, notamment à cause des rouleaux qui sont généralement formés en matériau plastique, l’utilisation des roues mecanum a jusqu’ici été limitée à des véhicules qui circulent exclusivement sur des surfaces lisses et sèches, par exemple au sein d’entrepôts ou de hangars. En d’autres termes, les roues mecanum connues ne sont pas adaptées pour équiper des véhicules qui circulent sur route, en particulier pour permettre une conduite sûre et confortable sur une chaussée éventuellement irrégulière ou glissante.The so-called "mecanum" wheel, invented by Bengt Ilon, is known from US patent 3,876,255.
