Abstract

The seat has two connecting rods (12, 13), each articulated around axes (Y1 and Y2) and axes (Y3 and Y4) linked to a backrest and a seat (2). The axes (Y1 and Y2) are separated by one length and axes (Y3 and Y4) are separated by another length. A supporting face (11) of the backrest is turned towards backside (10b) of the seat in a position of storage and is turned towards front side of the seat in a position of shelf.

Description

The present invention relates to seats

  intended to be mounted in an articulated manner on a motor vehicle body. More particularly, the invention relates to a seat movable in a tilting direction, between a position of use and a storage position, this seat comprising: a seat extending, in the position of use, substantially horizontally between one end front and rear end, said seat having a front face on which a user can sit when the seat is in the use position and a rear face intended to be turned towards the body when the seat is in the use position, a backrest extending, in the use position, substantially vertically between an upper end, remote from the seat, and a low end, close to the rear end of the seat, said backrest comprising a bearing face; oriented towards the tilting direction, - at least a first and a second connecting rods, the first connecting rod being articulated around a first and a second axis respectiveme nt related to the backrest and the seat, spaced apart from each other by a first length and substantially horizontal and perpendicular to the tilting direction, and the second connecting rod being articulated around a third and a fourth respectively connected to the backrest and the seat, spaced apart from each other by a second length, and substantially horizontal and perpendicular to the direction of tilt, WO-A-0119640 describes an example of such a seat that can be folded into a storage position in which the seat and the backrest occupy a substantially vertical position, the seat and the backrest overlapping slightly, with the rear face of the backrest

  Such a seat can take only two functional configurations: a position of use, in which a user can sit on the seat, and a storage position, to increase the capacity of

  loading luggage into the vehicle.

  The present invention is intended in particular to provide a seat of the kind indicated above which can be positioned in more functional configurations than

those mentioned above.

  For this purpose, it provides according to the invention, a seat of the kind in question which, in addition to the characteristics already mentioned, is characterized in that the first and second lengths, as well as the respective distances between the first and third axes and between the second and fourth axes, are adapted to allow to bring the backrest in two extreme positions, against the seat, a first storage position, in which the support surface of the backrest is turned towards the rear face of the seat and a tablet position, in which the backrest face is facing the front face of the

  Thanks to these provisions, the backrest can pass on both sides of the seat, with a displacement of the low end of the backrest around the rear end of the seat.   According to this embodiment shown in Figures 1 to 11, the seat 1 according to the invention is a rear seat. It comprises a seat 2 and a backrest 3. This seat

  The seat 1 is articulated on the body 4 so as to be able to pass, by a movement in a tilting direction X, from a position of use (FIG. 1), in a first storage position (FIG. 5). in a shelf position (Figure 6), in a second storage position (Figure 7), in a third storage position (Figure 8) and in a

berth position (Figure 10).

  As shown in Figure 1, in the position of use, the seat 2 extends substantially horizontally between a front end 5 and a rear end 6. Still in the use position, the backrest 3 extends substantially vertically between a high end 7, away from the seat 2, and a low end 8, close

  As shown in Figure 2, the user tilts the seat 2 around the fifth axis Y5. In this movement, the backrest 3 pivots rearwardly relative to the seat 2 around the axis Y2. The first rod 12 then abuts on the second link 13 (Figure 2). When the space between the seat 2 and the body 4 allows, the user can lower the backrest 3 behind the seat 2 (Figure 3). The lower end 8 of the backrest 3 passes on the rear face 10b of the seat 2 (FIGS. 3 and 4). Then the seat 2 having completely tilted forward, in the tilting direction X (Figure 4), the backrest 3 can be folded completely against the seat 2, with the support face 11 facing the rear face lOb of the seat 2. In this way, the rear face 10b of the seat 2 is protected by the backrest 3 which generally has on its face opposite the bearing face 11, a shell 14.   As shown in FIG. 6, the seat 1 can

  To move from the use position shown in Figure 1 to this tablet position, the user unlocks the hinge 9, then tilts the folder 3 forward, in the tilting direction X, on the 2. In this tablet configuration, the first 12 and second 13 connecting rods are crossed. The bearing face 11 of the backrest 3 is turned towards

the front face 10a of the seat 2.

  From the tablet position, the user can move the seat 1 into a second storage position shown in Figure 7. For this, it is sufficient to switch, around the fifth axis Y5, all seat 1, with the backrest 3 folded on the seat 2, in the tilting direction X. This storage position releases more space of

  loading only the first position.

  As shown in Figure 8, the seat 1 can take a third storage position. To move from the use position shown in FIG. 1 to this third storage position, the user unlocks the articulation 9 and tilts the seat 2 around the fifth axis Y5 to reach the first intermediate position illustrated by FIG. 2, then slightly lower the lower end 8 of the backrest 3 on the rear face lOb of the seat 2. The user then re-locks the joint 9. In this third storage position, the backrest 3 and the seat 2 are substantially aligned and in a vertical position, the backrest 3 being substantially in the extension of the seat 2, with its lower end 8 near the rear end 6 of

the seat 2.

  This configuration makes it possible to limit the movement of objects towards the passengers located at the front of the vehicle, by

  cases of frontal impact or severe braking.

  As shown in Figure 9, the backrest 3 can be set in different comfort positions. In each of these comfort positions, the backrest 3 is locked in rotation about the second axis Y2, thanks to the articulation 9. As represented in FIG. 10, the seat 1 can

take a berth position.

  To move from the use position shown in Figure 1 or Figure 9 to this bunk position, the user unlocks the hinge 9 and tilts the backrest 3 backwards. The berth position is re-locked when the control member of the

the joint 9 is released.

  Figure 11 shows the seat 1 devoid of padding. This figure more particularly illustrates the manner in which the first 12 and second 13 connecting rods are articulated on the seat 2 and the backrest 3. In particular, it may be noted that the first connecting rod 12 is linked to the backrest 3, at the level of the first axis Y1 , through a flange 16 and the second connecting rod 13 is also connected to the backrest 3, at the third axis Y3, through the same flange 16. The flange 16 has two parts 17, 18 to which are respectively linked a first 12 and a second 13 connecting rods. These two parts 17, 18 correspond to surfaces substantially perpendicular to the first Y1 and third Y3 axes, and are offset relative to each other. More precisely, the surface 18, linked to the second connecting rod 13, moves away from the backrest 3, so that the second connecting rod 13 can cross the first connecting rod 12, in the various configurations of the seat 1, whereas this second connecting rod 13, like the first rod 12, are fixed on the face of the

  flask 16 facing file 3.

  The seat according to the invention may have many variants without departing from the invention. For example, the hinge 9 may be a round, continuous, manual or motorized articulation such as those described in document FR-A-2 563 296.

Claims (10)

  A seat adapted to be hingedly mounted to a body (4) of a motor vehicle, and movable in a tilting direction (X), between a position of use and a storage position, said seat (1) comprising: - a seat (2) extending, in use position, substantially horizontally between a front end (5) and a rear end (6), said seat (2) having a front face (10a) on which a user can sit when the seat (1) is in the use position and a rear face (10b) intended to be turned towards the body (4) when the seat (1) is in the position of use, a back (3) extending, in the use position, substantially vertically between an upper end (7), remote from the seat (2), and a lower end (8), close to the rear end (6) of the seat (2), said backrest (3) having a bearing face (11) oriented towards the tilting direction (X), - at least a first (12) and a second (13) connecting rods, the first link (12) being articulated around a first (Y1) and a second (Y2) axes respectively related to the backrest (3) and to the seat (2), spaced from each other by a first length and substantially horizontal and perpendicular to the tilting direction (X), and the second connecting rod (13) being articulated around a third (Y3) and a fourth (Y4) axis respectively connected to the backrest (3) and to the seat (2), spaced from each other by a second length and substantially horizontal and perpendicular to the tilting direction (X), characterized in that the first and second lengths, as well as the respective distances between the first (Y1) and third (Y3) axes and between the second (Y2) and fourth (Y4) axes, are adapted to allow to bring the backrest (3) in two extreme positions, against the seat (2), a first storage position, in which the face d 'support (11) of the backrest (3) is turned towards the rear face (lOb) of the seat (2) and a tablet position, in which the support face (11) of the backrest (3) is facing the front (10a) of the seat (2).   2. Seat according to claim 1, wherein the distance between the first (Y1) and fourth (Y4) axes is lower, regardless of the position of the backrest (3) relative to the seat (2), the sum of first and second lengths.   Seat according to one of the preceding claims,   in which the respective position of the seat (2) and the   backrest (3) is controlled by a hinge (9).   4. Seat according to claim 3, wherein the hinge (9) is adapted to block the tilting of the backrest (3) relative to the seat (2) in the position of use.   Seat according to one of claims 3 and 4, in   wherein the hinge (9) is adapted to block the tilting of the backrest (3) relative to the seat (2), in the tablet position, in which the seat is in the same position as that which it occupies in the use position and the backrest (3) is folded down, substantially horizontally on the seat (2).   6. Seat according to one of claims 3 to 5, in   which articulation (9) is adapted to block the tilting of the backrest (3) relative to the seat (2), in a berth position, in which the seat (2) occupies a substantially horizontal position, analogous to that of the position of use, and the backrest (3) occupies a position between a substantially vertical position corresponding to the position of use and a substantially horizontal position in which the backrest (3) is substantially in the extension of the seat (2), with its low end (8) near the end rear (6) of the seat (2).   Seat according to one of claims 3 to 6, in   wherein the articulation (9) is adapted to block the tilting of the backrest (3) relative to the seat (2), in a vertically aligned position, in which the seat (2) and the backrest (3) occupy an substantially vertical position, with the backrest (3) substantially in the extension of the seat (2) and with its low end (8)   near the rear end (6) of the seat (2).   Seat according to one of the preceding claims,   wherein, the seat (2) has a rear face (10b), intended to be turned towards the body (4) when the seat is in the position of use, and the backrest (3) has a bearing face, on which a user can rest when seated on the seat and that seat is in the use position, and in which, 25. in the first storage position, the seat (2) can occupy a position substantially vertical, with the backrest (3) folded against the seat (2), the bearing face (11) of the backrest (3) being turned towards the rear face (10b) of the seat (2).   9.
