Abstract

The motor vehicle signal lamp has a bulb (2), a reflector (3), a screen (4) placed in front of the bulb and a front lens (6) in front of the screen. The front lens has, on the inner face, a series of raised opaque bands (6a) with spaces between. The screen is shaped to direct light into the spaces between the bands.

The present invention relates to a signaling light

  One of the aims of the present invention is to produce a light which, seen from the outside, has a uniform appearance while being able, once lit, to respond to

  different regulatory functions.

  The signaling light, object of the invention, is of the type comprising a lamp, a reflector, a screen arranged in front of the lamp and a lens extending in front of the screen, the lens having, on its face facing the screen , a series of strips leaving spaces between them, while the screen has an optic15 capable of channeling light towards said spaces, said light

  being characterized in that the strips are produced so as to be substantially opaque.

  Thanks to this arrangement, a light can be produced which, seen from the outside, can have a uniform appearance harmonizing with the color of the vehicle and which, when lit,

  can nevertheless fulfill the various regulatory functions.

  The strips can be painted, for example, the color of the vehicle coated with an aspect deposit

  shiny metallic, for example, gold, silver or other.

The bands can be embossed.

  According to yet another particular detail, the strips can be parallel.

  It can also be provided that the bands are

frosted.

  The ice can be colored in a corresponding color.

  In front of the lamp 2 is disposed a screen 4 which, in this embodiment, is colorless and has, on its face 4a, facing the lamp 2, a series of

  gadroons 5, while in front of the face 4b extends a glass 6.

  The glass is preferably colorless and has, on its face 6a, bands 7 in relief arranged in parallel lines, these being painted so as not to

let the light through.

  It is also possible to produce the strips 7 so that they are frosted and, in this case, they may not be in relief and they allow passage

  only a very small amount of light.

  The strips 7 can be coated, for example, with a paint of the same color as the vehicle or with a

  silver, golden, shiny or other coating.

  The gadroons 5 allow the light coming from the lamp to be channeled through the spaces 9 formed between

  the bands 7 so that one can have, across the gla-

  ce 6, all colors corresponding to the different regulatory functions. For example, the lamp can be white for the reversing headlight function, orange for the direction change function and, for the functions,

  fog and stop lights, we can provide either a bonnet-

  te red on the lamp, or that the part of screen 4, located in this function, is itself red, the lamp

being white.

  In the embodiment of Figure 3, the glass 10 is of the same type as the glass 6 and has, on its face 10a, parallel strips 11 which are coated with paint 12 or frosted, while said screen 13 has a face smooth 13a facing the lamp and, on the opposite face facing the glass, gadroons 14, these being intended to channel towards the spaces 15

  formed between the strips 11, the light from the lamp.

  FIG. 4 shows another embodiment in which the screen 21 has a smooth face 21a facing the lamp, while its other face is provided with concave cylindrical gadroons 16 intended to channel the light rays between the strips 17 in the spaces 20

  Figure 5 also shows an alternative embodiment. The glass 27 is of the same type as that of FIGS. 1 to 4 and has, on its face 27a, strips 21 either frosted or covered with a coating 22 so

  to make these bands substantially opaque, spaces 23 being provided between the bands which extend in parallel lines.

  Between the glass 20 and the lamp 2 extends a screen 25 whose face 25a, facing the glass 20, is smooth, while the face, facing the lamp, comprises

  concave cylindrical gadroons 26 having the same function as the optics of the other embodiments.

  In all cases, the spaces 9, 15, 20, 23 formed between the corresponding bands are sufficiently narrow for the observer, located facing the fire, to see only the general appearance given by the painting of the bands or the frosting of these; what can provide

  a beautiful aesthetic aspect, for example, if the color matches that of the vehicle. However, of course, these spaces are large enough to allow the light from the lamp 2 to pass through.

  Of course, the invention is not limited to the embodiments which have just been described and

  represented. Many modifications of detail can be made without departing from the scope of the invention.

Claims (10)

  1. Motor vehicle signaling light of the type comprising a lamp (2), a reflector (3), a screen (4) disposed in front of the lamp (2) and a lens (6) extending in front of the screen (4 ), the glass having, on its face turned towards the screen, a series of strips leaving spaces between them, while the screen has an optic capable of channeling light towards said spaces, said light being characterized in that that the bands   are made so as to be substantially opaque.   2. Motor vehicle signaling light according to claim 1, characterized in that the strips are painted.   3. Motor vehicle signaling light according to claim 1, characterized in that the strips are coated with a glossy deposit.   4. Motor vehicle signaling light, according to claims 1, 2 and 3, characterized in that that the bands are in relief.   5.
