Abstract

The cup is remarkable for its shape with a cylindrical tubular body (1) and its liquid-tight constitution with side wall (2) made of cardboard covered with a plastic or metallic film and by a fixed bottom part (3) with vent ( 22) closable and with a top cap (14) with a tight closure having passage means for the contents and rapid fixing at the entrance of the paint of a paint spray gun (24). This invention interests painters with a spray gun and manufacturers of paint spray guns.

Description

The invention relates to a disposable cup intended for the preparation or

  mixture of paints in the fields of vehicle bodywork,

  laboratories, industries of all kinds ...

  More generally, the invention is of interest to the paint trades in general and particularly

that of auto repair.

  To carry out the dosages necessary in the preparation of paints, primers, varnishes etc ... the preparers use scales, for the weighing of the basic components of the colors and graduated bars to dose the adjuvants necessary for the application (thinners, hardeners etc ...) When using the dosing strips, it is important that the container has a flat bottom and well parallel walls so that the volumes shown by lines on the strip are precise. Indeed, in a container of flared shape for example, a centimeter measured at the bottom of the container does not correspond to the same volume as a

  centimeter measured at the top of the container.

  These dosages are usually done in cylindrical aluminum mixing pots of various

  capacities ranging from 0.200 liter to 10 liters and more.

  These jars are the most suitable type of container for dosing with the strip because of their cylindrical shape. But these are expensive because of the material used and their method of manufacture. Their implementation requires hours of labor and generates pollution since they must be cleaned at

solvents after each use.

  There are also tin cans with or without a lid that are also used to store paint. These are less suitable than aluminum mixing pots, because they are impractical for pouring mixtures into paint spray guns and cannot be used with products in water. Disposable plastic containers of the type

  "white cheese jar" are nestable but conical.

  They therefore do not lend themselves to dosing with a graduated slide. Without finding a suitable container, the preparers use various containers for recovery such as mustard jars, cans, cut plastic bottles, small jars of baby food and

  various other containers that have already been used.

  The invention consists in creating a consumable and therefore disposable product using cylindrical pots of composite cardboard, with a perfectly flat bottom, the height of which is at least equal to twice its diameter, coated inside with a plastic film or in aluminium. The tubular body, the bottom and the membranes are welded, glued or hermetically sealed. The bottom can be made of cardboard,

plastic or metal.

  Alternatively, the cylindrical paint preparation cup is particularly suitable for mounting on a paint spray gun in place of the bucket. A removable and airtight cover allows

  keep the products pending use.

  Compared to the prior art, this cup has the following advantages: by its flat bottom and its center of gravity well placed, this cup is very stable, its cylindrical shape allows a good grip, pleasant to the touch, it has not cold from metal, glass or plastic, its perfectly parallel walls contribute to good dosing accuracy, a removable cover allows you to store the mixtures while waiting for use, provided with a cover or cap suitable, it can be mounted on a paint gun of the gravity or suction type and advantageously serve as

paint bucket.

  Its fully open upper edge allows the various components to be well mixed using stirrers. Disposable, it is ecological and economical since it reduces the use of cleaning solvents and constitutes a waste in harmony with the environment because it is easy to eliminate without dangerous residues. Made from paper and cardboard, it can be printed and used as a medium for information and

  technical and advertising communications.

  In its basic version shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the paint preparation cup according to the invention is a cylindrical tubular body 1 with a lateral surface 2 of cardboard internally protected by a film or a film of plastic material or

  metal which simultaneously seals against liquids.

  The tubular body is closed at one of its ends by a flat bottom consisting of a bottom piece 3 with a cover, itself cylindrical fitted and

  immobilized in the lower end 4.

  The wall of this bottom part is contiguous with that adjacent to the tubular body 1 and is immobilized in this position by gluing or any other securing means. The tightness is completed by a crimping which achieves a primary tightness coming from the beaded drawdown 5 of the edge of the lower end 4 of the tubular body 1 against the edge of the bottom piece 3. This

  the latter is also protected by a waterproof film.

  The upper end 6 of the tubular body is closed by a removable cap 7. This cap 7 of cylindrical shape, solid or through for the liquid, has a cylindrical lateral surface 8 approximately at the inside diameter of the cylindrical tubular body. It may include reliefs 9 in rings or helical or any other shape favoring the immobilization of the cap 7 and ensuring

  a certain sufficient seal for the intended purpose.

  The cap 7 has an upper end of conventional shape with a hollow head 10 delimited by a flanged border 11 which extends beyond its junction with the surface.

  Figure 6 illustrates the preparation of a paint with the cup according to the invention. There is shown a metering slide 12 directly indicating the volume occupied by the mixture 13, which

  allows precise dosing to be carried out easily.

  The cylindrical cup according to the invention is also produced in derived forms corresponding to as many direct variants intended to be used first to prepare and mix the paint and then to

  paint bucket for mounting on a paint spray gun.

  Two main variants are shown in FIGS. 3 to 8. First of all, there are three simple variants with a cap 14 fitted in a generally conical shape with a lower part 15 in a cylindrical skirt which comes to fit externally on the cover, either directly, either by means of a sleeve 16 externally threaded or with external annular reliefs 17 or by a flat ring of rubber or of another extensible material capable of ensuring immobilization and a seal coming to immobilize around the end

upper 6 of the tubular body 1.

  This cuff 16 can be associated with a screen 18, that is to say for example maintain a through cover with more or less fine meshes and

  thus perform two functions simultaneously.

  The cap 14 has a flat head 19 with a threaded connection either in the hollow 20 (FIG. 3) or in

projection 21 (figure 4).

  Of course, in these variants, the bottom 3 will include a closable and discoverable vent 22 as an air inlet coming to occupy the volume 23 of the

paint consumed.

  Figure 5 shows the cup according to the invention in place on a paint gun 24. Its cap 14 is simply screwed onto the existing threaded connector 25 provided on the paint inlet in the body of the gun 24. According to the gun models, this connector 25 is either male or female. It is simply necessary to opt for the corresponding variant of the cup according to the invention, that represented in FIG. 3 or that of FIG. 4 or another whose

  tubular projection of the cap is internally threaded.

  Figures 7 and 8 show a snap-in version of an intermediate connecting piece 26 intended for mounting the cup-cup on the

paint spray gun.

  This embodiment has a cap 27 according to a separate reusable part in the form of a funnel on the body of which is fitted with a tight hold the end of the tubular body 1. This cap has a central outlet with a projecting central cylindrical tubular orifice 28 having a frustoconical latching edge 29 comprising a lower abutment edge 30. This end of cylindrical tubular orifice 28 is called to come to be fitted on the outside and to snap onto a corresponding structure of the intermediate connecting piece 26 comprising towards the bottom a threaded part 31 coming to be screwed on the corresponding part of the paint entry of the body of a

paint sprayer 32.

  The part 33 facing the cup of the intermediate connection piece 26 is shaped as a snap-on structure complementary to that of the end of the outlet orifice of the cap 27 or receiving part of the cup on which the cup is fitted with interposition a cuff

sealing 34.

  An example of this type of shape is shown in detail in FIG. 8. An annular peripheral skirt 35 delimits a cylindrical housing 36 for the cylindrical tubular projection 28 with a snap rim of the central orifice for the passage of the paint. The cylindrical housing 36 surrounds a central retaining sleeve 37. The skirt 35 ends upwards by a frustoconical rim 38 of shape and orientation complementary to those of the projection

  tubular end 28 of the central orifice that is

say looking inward.

  Although the pistol shown is of the gravity type, the cup-cup also adapts in its version with a through cap to the pistols of the suction type. It suffices to provide the passage through the cap adapted to a suction gun dip tube and to simultaneously provide a means of

holding the bucket.

  Of course, other technical forms can be envisaged while remaining within the scope and the spirit of the invention. The connection just needs to be fast

  and maintains and seals.

Disposable cup for the preparation or mixing of paints, characterized in that it has a cylindrical tubular body (1) with lateral surface (2) of cardboard lined with a film or a plastic film, closed fixedly at one of its ends by a fixed and sealed bottom part (3) and removably at its other end (6) by a solid or through cap for the liquid. 2. Disposable cup according to claim 1 characterized in that the fixed bottom (3) has a closable vent (22).   3. Disposable cup according to claims 1   and 2 characterized in that the cap (14) has a passage lined with one or extended by a male threaded connection piece for mounting on a gun (24) to paint.   4. Disposable cup according to claims 1   and 2 characterized in that the cap (14) has a passage lined with or extended by a female threaded connection piece for mounting on a spray gun (24) to paint.   5. Disposable cup according to claims 1   and 2 characterized in that the cap (27) is a funnel-shaped receiving part on the body of which is fitted internally with a sealed hold the end of the tubular body (1) of the cup, said funnel-shaped receiving part comprising a central orifice in cylindrical tubular projection (28) having at its end a snap-on edge, the tubular projection (28) being fitted externally on the central cylindrical part of a snap-in connection piece (26) having a housing annular receiving device delimited by the cylindrical side wall of the upper central part of the connecting piece and an annular skirt (35) with upper edge turned inwards and frustoconical so as to cooperate with the latching edge of the projection (28) for temporary immobilization with sealing.
