Abstract

FOLDING LOUNGE CHAIRS

  The present invention relates to folding lounge chairs, also called "deckchairs", and more particularly to a safety and adjustment device

In said drawings is shown a lounge chair also called a deckchair, which comprises, in known manner, a pair of front legs 11; a pair of rear legs 12 converging and fixed on pivots at the upper part of the front feet 11 and each having an extension to constitute the armrests 13; a seat frame 14 fixed on pivots at 14 'to an intermediate part of the front legs 11; a backrest frame 15 fixed on pivots at 15 'to the rear part of the seat frame 14; and a canvas 16 applied to the frames 14, 15 in order to constitute

  In the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 2 to 4, the stopping prop 19 of such a device has a pair of projections 20 parallel to the longitudinal axis of the lounge chair and another pair of projections 21 oriented in the transverse direction and

  facing outward on opposite sides.

  The prop 19 provided with the projections 20 and 21 advantageously consists of a single metal element folded in a suitable manner. The first pair of projections 20 is intended to bear against the spacer 17, adjacent to the rear feet 12, forming a stop which keeps the backrest 15 in the raised position when the user is in the sitting position, preventing accidental overturning. from the chair back. The second pair of projections 13 bears against the rear legs 12, thus stabilizing the structure, and constitutes gripping means for unlocking the chair when it is desired to modify its

tilt.

  In addition, the first pair of projections 20 can bear, if necessary, against other stops 17 ′ fixed to the rear feet and capable of defining different

  backrest tilt positions with the seat.

  In another exemplary embodiment, the safety device (see FIG. 8) comprises a single chevron 22 fixed on pivots in an oscillating manner from one side of the backrest frame 15 and "also having a first projection 23 intended to rest on the spacer 17 adjacent to a rear foot 12 and a second

  projection 24 intended to bear against said foot.

  In the two embodiments, the prop 19 (see FIGS. 5 to 7) and the rafter 22 (see FIG. 8) have a rod or handle 25 which extends upwards to the level of an armrest 13 and which has one end 26 facing forwards and downwards. The presence of said rod or lever 25 makes it easier to move the tie rod 19 or the rafter 22 to unlock the backrest and be able to reverse it. So, this can be done directly by

the user while seated.

  It suffices that it rests on its arm, better, its elbow, on the end 26 of the rod or lever 25 to move the prop 19 or the rafter 22, as the case may be, from the spacer 17 (see the dashes in Figure 6) and release the backrest to be able to tilt the

chair as required.

Claims (5)

  1. Safety device and adjusting the tilt of folding lounge chairs, wherein the lounge chair comprises a pair of front legs (11), a pair of rear legs (12) converging and fixed on pivots at the top of the front legs (11) and each having an extension (13) to form the armrests, a seat frame (14) fixed on pivots at an intermediate part of the front legs (11), a back frame (15) fixed on pivots at the rear part of the seat frame, and a fabric (16) applied to said frames (14,) to form the seat and the backrest, and in which said backrest frame is movable with the seat frame at least between a seated position and a reclined inclined position, safety device characterized by stop means (19, 22) fixed on pivots in an oscillating manner to the back frame (15) and interacting with at least one spacer (17) or stops fixed to the rear feet ( 12) in order to choose and d e stabilize the inclination and the position of use of the chair (14, 15).   2. Safety device according to claim 1, characterized in that said stop means (19, 22) are provided with a control rod or handle (25) which extends in height up to the level of an armrest (13) and ends with one end (26) facing forwards and downwards, said end (26) serving as support means for the arm or the elbow of a person sitting on the chair to determine the distance of the stop means (19, 22) from the spacer or stops when changing the position of the chair (14, 15) 3. Device according to claim 1, characterized in that said stop means consist of a chevron (22) fixed on pivots in an oscillating manner from one side of the backrest frame (15) and having a first projection (23) d 'support on the spacer (17) or on the stops supported by the rear feet and a second projection (24) bearing on a rear foot (12), and in that said rod or control lever (25) is attached as an extension of said rafter and is accessible at   the armrest corresponding to said rear foot.   5. Device according to claim 3 or 4, characterized in that the stop means (19, 22) are   formed of a single folded metal element.
