Abstract

The container is formed from a single or cardboard blank, foldable to define a rectangular container of the same height as the bodies of the bottles to be packaged. The top panel, formed from two cooperating portions (10,11) or as a single sheet, includes rows of holes (12,13) through which the bottle necks may pass.The base panel (1) is formed with a series of partially-cut portions (2), which are pushed out of the panel to form holes by engagement with the necks of bottles projecting from a lower similar container when stacked. The holes in the top panel may have peripheral partially-cut portions (12a) defining locking flaps to secure the bottle necks in position relative to the panel.

Description

 I1 is known to transport a number of identical objects in cardboard boxes of rectangular parallelepiped shape. This is the case for the bottles which are packed in boxes of American box type by 6, 12, 24, in general 12. Currently. the 12 bottles are placed vertically in the American box and separated from each other by cut surfaces, for example braces and this is how these packages not only use a very large surface of cardboard but, moreover, require organs holding when stacked on top of each other during palletizing.

The increase in the price of paper and cardboard, in particular single or double-sided corrugated cardboard, means that these packages are currently very lumpy and, despite some recovery, the loss of paper, - say wood pulp, are very important.

The present invention overcomes these drawbacks by creating a packaging for long objects such as bottles which encloses the latter correctly with a much smaller cardboard area by allowing, because of the hollow provided under the bottles, to stack these packages easily on pallet without having to lock them as was usual. In addition, as these packages allow part of the neck of the bottles to protrude, it is possible to handle them directly without the use of special handles and, at the same time, there is a total elimination of the dividers or braces thus allowing a very significant reduction. the price of each package.

According to the invention, the cardboard packaging of rectangular parallelepiped shape, more especially for long objects such as bottles, is characterized in that the height of the packaging is equal to the height of the bottle bodies and then the lid of the container. 'packaging, made in one or two pieces, has rows of holes with precuts facilitating the passage of bottle necks so that they are enclosed in the lid to ensure the safety of the packaging which can be stacked, which saves a lot of cardboard.

According to another characteristic of the invention, the cardboard packaging of rectangular parallelepiped shape, more especially for long objects such as bottles, is characterized in that the bottoms of the packages have rows of precuts allowing the penetration of the necks of the bottles into the bottom of the bottles placed above when stacking the packaging, thus ensuring the locking of the stacked packaging.

Various other characteristics of the invention will also emerge from the detailed description which follows.

Embodiments of the subject of the invention are shown, by way of nonlimiting examples, in the accompanying drawings.

In fig. 1, the rectangular cutout or blank intended to constitute a packaging for 12 bottles has at its center a rectangular bottom 1 marked along three parallel lines of precut circles 2 whose rolls will be explained later. The bottom 1 is extended along its transverse ends 1a, 1b by flaps 3 and 4 having substantially the shape of a trapezoid. The longitudinal sides lc, ld of the bottom 1 are extended by surfaces 5, 6 of rectangular shape but whose transverse height is less than the height of a bottle so as to allow the neck 7 of each to protrude (see fig. 2) bottle 8. The surfaces 5, 6 are bordered laterally by lateral flaps 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b of rectangular shape. Finally, the outer sides of the surfaces 5, 6 are each extended towards the outside by shutter forming a half-top 10, 11 pierced with four aligned holes 12 and half-holes 13 at the outer edge of each half-top 10, 11. Finally, the transverse ends of the latter include retaining ears 15, 16 which will be given the use in the following. Of course, and as is common in these single or double-sided corrugated cardboard packaging, the different parts of the packaging, bottom 1, side sides 5, 6, top 10, 11, flaps 3, 4, side flaps Sa, 5b , 6a, 6b, retaining ears 15, 16 are limited with respect to each other by fold lines obtained by semi-cutting the cardboard constituting the packaging. It is also easy to fold the different parts of the packaging to constitute the box.

 It should also be pointed out that the holes 12 in the overcoat 11 are extended on the external side by precuts 12a which facilitate the passage of the necks 7 of the bottles 8 during assembly of the packaging.

Indeed, and as is very visible in FIG. 2, when 12 bottles have been placed on the bottom 1, the side sides 5, 6 are straightened then the side flaps 5a, 6a, 5b, 6b are folded at 90 perpendicular to the sides 5, 6. At this time, the flaps 3, 4 from the bottom 1 are brought back to the side flaps 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b and, finally, the half-sides 10, 11 are folded 90 "so that they overlap the necks 7 of the bottles 8. At this time, the retaining ears 15, 16 are glued to the flaps 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b.

All the necks 7 of the bottles 8 are therefore trapped in the holes 12 and the movement has been facilitated for the outer rows, by the precuts 12a. With regard to the central line of the bottles, the half-holes 13 hold the necks 7 in a blind fashion. As has just been indicated, it is possible, after closing the packaging, to take the bottle-packaging assembly easily by means of the hole 18 provided in the middle of the top of the packaging-hole constituted by two half -holes cut in the top half 10, 11.

Such a packaging very easily uses 30% less cardboard than previously while allowing, because of the semi-cutouts 2 in the bottom 1, to stack these packages easily since the bottles 8 have curved bottoms thus allowing the introduction of the collars 7 into the bottom of the bottles by locking each group of 12 bottles on top of each other.

Of course, the side walls 5, 6, the bottom 1 and the top 10, 11 can be coated with any decoration or advertisement desired by printing or any other method.

As can be seen in FIG. 3, the second embodiment of the packaging comprises a bottom 100 having the precuts 2 and on its transverse sides the flaps 3, 4, the straight longitudinal part of the bottom 100 is extended by the surface lateral 6 provided with the flaps 6a, 6b while the longitudinal left part of the bottom 100 is extended by the lateral side 5 provided with the lateral flaps 5a, 5b. The lateral side 5 is extended by a surface 110 constituting the top of the package, the top which comprises locking lugs 111, 112 and externally, a longitudinal flap 113 of trapezoidal shape intended to be fixed, as appears seen in FIG. 4 along the outer edge 6c on the lateral side 6.

As in the previous case, there are provided in the surface 110 forming a cover, holes 120 (internal side of the cover) extended by cutouts 121, oblong holes 125 for the central row, cylindrical holes 130 for the outer row.

The mounting of this packaging is strictly the same as in the previous case except that the top 110 forming a cover is held, on the one hand, by the retaining ears 111, 112 and, on the other hand, by the longitudinal flap 113.

As in the previous case, the precuts 121 and the oblong holes 125 allow the lid 110 to be easily fitted onto the necks 7 of the bottles 8.

This gives, whether for the embodiment of FIGS. 1 and 2 or the embodiment of FIGS. 3 and 4, packages having a significant reduction in height depending on the height of the central part of each bottle. These two embodiments allow easy stacking of packaging due to the penetration of the necks 7 into the lower recesses of the bottoms of the bottles. The packaging can therefore be operated without a special handle. Finally, it is possible to have good hold of the whole of each package since it benefits from a very tight position of the bottles. The precut circles 2 of the bottoms 1 and 100 form insulating discs protecting the caps of the bottles when the packages are stacked without increasing consumption of cardboard.

Due to the smaller sizes of the blanks, it is possible to deliver them flat on smaller pallets, saving weight and volume, especially since these blanks can be automatically mounted on the bottling machine. without the addition of external labor.

The elimination of the lower braces and dividers allows a minimum of 5 to 6 Z of cardboard to be saved, thus ensuring that the new packaging has a very attractive cost price, 15 to 25 Z lower than normal prices.

These packages can obviously be produced by sets of 6, 12, 15, etc. bottles made of glass, metal or plastic.

Claims (4)
