Abstract

The connector (1) with inlet (4) and outlet (5) has a one-piece body (2,42). A ball-valve (52,53) is fixed in bore (12) against shoulder (11) of second bore (3) in which slides spring-cage (24) whose outer wall functions as a filter. Inside cage (24) spring (25) pushes extension (50) through hole (51) against ball (53) to keep it off the seat (54). The spring also pushes elastic seal (28) of plug valve (27) against the end (29) of screwed-in guide (22) which is sealed in the body by seal (23). Coupler (41), internally grooved, holds ferrule (40) which fits bore (5) and pushes away valve-end (30) to expose holes (31). ADVANTAGE - Having no joints, is leak-proof when assembled, and may be made specific for a given gas by e.g. the number or shape of grooves at the two end connections. Gas is automatically closed off upstream if the interior is dismantled e.g. for maintenance.
