Abstract

The retaining mechanism holds a female coaxial connector in a male coaxial connector, it is easily manufactured and smooth in operation. A sleeve (3) on the male connector has six conical housings for ball bearings. These are covered and held in place by a sliding ring (7) loaded by a spring (9). In the fixed position the ball bearings locate in a circular groove (6) in the female connector and lock the two together. The connection is secured by twisting the ring so that a lug (14) engages in a radial slot. The connection is separated by sliding back (17) the ring which allows the ball bearings to lift clear of the groove (6).
