Abstract

The present invention relates to the field of composite packaging. According to the invention, a composite packaging of the type combining a wooden base tray or pallet 1, consisting, from its upper surface to its lower surface, of a plurality of planks 3 arranged longitudinally forming a platform, of a plurality of transverse planks 4 forming crosspieces, of a plurality of struts 5, 5' and of a plurality of planks 6 forming a support for a cardboard crate 7 comprising a bottom formed by lower flaps 8, walls formed by four faces 9 of a strip which is closed on itself, and a lid formed by upper flaps 10, the crate and the pallet being of parallelepipedal shapes with corresponding spread, is characterised in that the vertical corner parts 11 of the crate in extension below the bottom along four angle joints limbs 12 intended to fit around the four vertical corner parts 13 of the pallet 1, which has the effect of making the pallet 1 transversely solid with the crate 7.

Description

 The present invention is in the field of composite repackages, that is to say combining several distinct materials, for example wood and cardboard and it relates more particularly to packaging of such a type.

 We. knows many packages, of relatively large size, in which a box preferably made of corrugated cardboard is associated with a wooden frame called a rack or pallet; such a chassis avoids the contact of the cardboard box with the ground and allows the manipulation of the assembly by means of forklift.

 A problem posed by such composite packaging is posed by the means of making the cardboard box integral with its support pallet, and more particularly by the means of stabilizing in sliding the box relative to the pallet.

Solutions to this problem were provided by a previous patent application
FR 79 14250 by the same Applicant and by patents
US 2,965,276 (FOSTER), US 3,073,500 (GOODRICH), GB 678,586 (ADISON-SEMMES), US 2,815,163 (KING), US 2,745,590 (liERZOG) and DE 2,205,651 (CIRA-GF, IGY). These solutions generally consist of angles fixed to the pallet and inside which the cardboard box is placed; these angles are external stops to the body which prevent it from sliding or turning.

 The means of the aforementioned prior art have two categories of drawbacks; in the first place, their function being only to stabilize the body, they do not participate in any way in the function of container of the body nor in the function of handling the pallet; secondly, being prominent in relation to the pallet, they risk; always to be twisted or broken.

 We also know from a more recent publication FR 2,530,222 by the same Applicant, a composite packaging whose case is wedged on the pallet by means of a cardboard bottom plate fixed on the pallet. This packaging constituted a real improvement on the known packaging of the type, but with the disadvantage of dissociating during the manufacturing the bottom plate, from the walls of the body itself.

 The Applicant's inventive approach consisted in finding the means of producing a packaging of the aforementioned type without having to dissociate during manufacture the constituent elements of the bottom, of the whole of the body.

 According to the present invention iin composite packaging is generally characterized in that the vertical corner parts of the box extend below the bottom salt four legs in angle intended to fit around the four vertical corner parts from the palette; this disposi.tion has the effect of securing transversely the pallet with respect to the body.

 Preferably, spacers of parallelepiped shape being arranged at the four angles of the pallet and constituting the corner parts, the sole laterally projects each of the outer faces of the spacers by a small distance, called overflow, slightly greater than the thickness cardboard ; advantageously the length (1) of the legs below the bottom is equal to the distance (d) separating the upper face of the sole from the upper face, said plate; it follows from this latter arrangement that the lower end of the legs can bear on the overflow of the sole; still advantageously said legs result from a T-shaped cutout of each of the lower flaps; advantageously finally each contiguous wing of the angle of the legs has a width substantially equal to the height of the face of the spacer with which it is associated.

 It can be understood by a person skilled in the art that the box for the above-defined packaging can be produced by single cutting out of a single plate of corrugated cardboard for example.

 According to secondary provisions sc particularly suited to the packaging of the invention, one of the walls of the box has a rectangular cutout forming a flap attached by one of its sides to the wall along a fold line parallel to the lower edge of the box. , and by its side opposes an upper component of the cover; passers-by are cut on the edges of the walls while wooden uprights, or candles of a height substantially equal to that of the body, are intended to be threaded into the passers-by; advantageously an upper rack with a base equal to that of the pallet tray can rest on 1 the upper end of the candles in the case where the packaging must be able to support a stack.

 The present invention will be better understood and details will be apparent from the description which will be given of a particular embodiment of a packaging in accordance with the invention, in relation to the figure of the single piece attached to it. in perspective such a package broken down into its various components.

 Sir the figure a package of the invention consists, from top to bottom of the figure, of a pallet 1, a box 7, candles 21, and an upper rack 22.

 The pallet is formed by an assembly of boards 3 arranged longitudinally, two transverse boards 4 forming a cross member, another plurality of boards 6 forming a sole, and spacers 5, 5 ′ connecting; the platcau and the sole; the pallet is of a type known except that the sole laterally projects over each of the angle struts 5 ′ to form overflows 14 slightly greater than the thickness of the carton.

 The box 7, formed essentially by a strip of cardboard cut out and closed in on itself at vertical angle portions which extend below the bottom along four legs 12 in an angle. The internal dimensions of the body (base) are such that they can fit around the four vertical corner parts 13 of the pallet 1. If the length 1 of the legs is equal to the distance d separating the upper face of the sole on the upper face of the plate, the lower end of the legs will rest on the overflows 14 of the sole.  According to what has just been said and insofar as the interior wheelbases of the body 7 and the exterior of the tray are of equal dimensions, it will be understood that when the body is fitted onto the pallet, these two parts are at least transversely firmly united to each other.

 The box 7 has at its end 5 flaps 10 intended to constitute the cover; it will be noted that one of the walls of the box has a rectangular cutout 17 forming a flap 18 attached by one of its sides to the wall along a fold line 19 parallel to the lower edge of your box, and by its side opposite to a flap upper 10 constituting the cover, we will still notice passers-by 10 cut on the edges of the walls and candles 21 of a height substantially equal to that of the body and intended to be threaded in the passers-by to support a higher class 22 in the cases or several packages would be intended to be stacked.

 It should be understood that the present invention is not limited to] the embodiment described above and shown but that it extends to any packaging with the general characteristics defined above.
