Abstract
The thermostatic switch includes a bellows capsule (39) which contains a fluid with a significant coefficient of expansion. A lever (46) which has a projection (49) contacts the free surface of the bellows. This lever is pivoted by two tabs (51, 52) engaging in apertures (53) in the outer frame (4) of the assembly. The other end of the lever carriers an anvil (58) with one surface (94) perpendicular to the length of the lever, and a second surface (95) inclined at an obtuse angle to the first. These surfaces engage with the extremity (89) of a further lever (79) which actuates a toggle spring (78) to open or close a pair of contacts (70, 73) rapidly, as lever (46) moves. The projection (49) is urged into contact with capsule (39) by a coil spring (44). The tension in this spring may be adjusted by screw (45). In the preferred embodiment, screw (45) passes through a hole (37) on a cam-follower plate (23). The position of plate (23) can be adjusted by rotating a control shaft (19) to which is attached a cam (20).
