Abstract
The occlusion instrument is partic. for sealing off vessels in the brain. It has a thin-walled balloon of elastic material thickened at the forward and rear end, in whose self-sealing opening an elastic catheter is inserted to supply the filling agent. A metal plug (11) is inserted in the forward thickened portion of the balloon, while a flap is formed from the material of the balloon (8) at the rear thickened portion. This shuts off the opening on removal of the distal end of the catheter (10), which end has a retaining device of smaller diameter and greater elasticity than the main part of the catheter body.
