Abstract
The obstruction process is for a fistula, aneurism of other vascular lesion or the supply vessel to a tumour or malformation, using an inflatable balloon of latex or similar material fitted to the end of a catheter introduced by an endovascular passage into the injured part. The balloon is then inflated via the catheter and released by withdrawal of the latter. The catheter is directed by radioscopy along the endovascular passage. the balloon can be a simply cylindrical glove finger bound to the catheter by several turns of very thin latex thread and suitably knotted. The catheter carrying the balloon is enclosed by a second one which slides along it to the face of the first. The balloon is held in place by butting against the second catheter as the first is withdrawn.
