Abstract
A control magnitude is obtained for the intermediate frequency video signal amplifier from the peak value of the output signal. The latter is converted in its amplitude response by a converter (5), corresponding at least to one higher potential. Then it is supplied to a peak value rectifier (9), transmitting the control magnitude. Pref. the amplitude response is converted according to a rising exponential function. The converted signal corresponds to a parabola with an exponent exceeding 1.5. Alternately the amplitude response may be converted in correspondence with a characteristic with suppressed starting values. Amplitude range of the control signal is pref. suppressed, or at least reduced below 20 to 30% of the value appearing during normal control. The output signal may be squared by a multiplier stage (5) both whose inputs (3a, 3b) receive the output signal. The converter-multiplier contains current amplifier stages, and the converted and possibly amplified current then supply the control magnitude via a current peak value circuit, which feeds a capacitor.
