Abstract

A wing hinge for use, eg for motor car doors, has one of the two wings both of which are made of metal plate, with upturned sides, extended to two lugs with a bore. A hinge pin is driven into them and is held captive by a knurled band under its head. The other wing is slightly smaller so that it fits between the upturned lugs. It has also upturned sides and has at the mating end two plugs which are bent over with a sleeve of a plastic material which can withstand high unit pressures, e.g. PTFE or polyamide. Such hinges cost much less to produce than the conventional motor car door hinges. It is free from the corrosion hazard of other door hinges.
