Abstract

The anchor is used to secure an automatic seat belt strap (6) to a rotatable axle (50) and utilises a split tubular clip (56) about a terminal closed strap loop (8). The loop is threaded onto the axle, and the longitudinally split clip expands for installation and contracts to wedge the strap onto the axle. The clip cross-section may be similar to that of the axles. It has a one piece or a sectional construction, the segments of the latter connected by neck hinges. The axle is square (50) and the clip (56) of 'U' section, the assembly fitting inside a tubular flanged (35) reel (53). A wide axial reel slot (55) allows axle insertion with the strap passing through a narrow slot (36) diametrically opposite.
