Abstract

L'invention concerne un système magnétique d'enregistrement/restitution à exploration hélicoïdale. Selon l'invention, il comprend n têtes magnétiques 4, 5, 6 (n étant un nombre entier de 2 ou plus) disposées à proximité de la paroi externe d'un tambour à têtes 3, et espacées les unes des autres de 2 pi /n radians par rapport à l'axe de rotation du tambour et d'environ 1/n de la largeur d'une bande magnétique 7 en direction axiale du tambour; la bande magnétique est enroulée autour du tambour sur un angle de 2 pi /n radians ou plus par rapport à l'axe de rotation, ainsi un signal est réparti séquentiellement dans le temps pour être enregistré sur n pistes de la bande magnétique et être reproduit de ces n pistes. L'invention s'applique notamment à l'enregistrement et à la restitution de signaux vidéo.
