Abstract

A turnbuckle is made from a piece of tube with a short length of internal screw thread at each end. These threads are of opposite hand and receive matching rods. The tube has two diametrically opposite longitudinal slots with a central enlargement. Each rod has a transverse tapped hole at each end to receive a locking screw. The screw is inserted after the rods have been screwed into the tube and is then tightened until its shank engages the opposite slot and so each rod is locked to the tube.
