Abstract

The HV plug and socket includes a plug with a pin and a conducting insert. The socket has a case (20) with a bore (24) and a hollow contact (38) movably held in it, and an independent screen (50) in the form of a conducting element (52) embedded in the socket and surrounding its insertion hole. A piece (54) projects from its one end which, when the pin (14) is inserted, connects it to the plug (12) conducting insertt (18). The pin of the plug (12) which is received in the hollow contact (38) is surrounded by an outer cylindrical sheath which passes over the socket when the two parts are fitted together.
