Abstract
A heat pump(4) serves floor coils in habitable rooms (A, B) and has as heat source air drawn into a duct (3) from the rooms and from a loft(C). Cold air discharged from the heat pump can be exhausted to atmosphere or returned (10) to the loft. Fresh air enters the loft through a roof inlet(8). A glazed section(6) in the loft roof(D) allows solar radiation to fall on a bank of tubes (7) of material having a high thermal capacity. The air entering the upper part of the loft flows over this before being drawn(3) into the heat pump.
