Abstract

The adjustable staple is for use with rim-locks in securing e.g. a door to the surround frame (9) at closure, and adjusts to compensate for misalignment or wear of the bolt (7). The staple comprises a shoe (1) and a cover (5) connected by screws (4) with the shoe (1) fixed (2) to the frame (9). The screws are rotated by vary the relationship of the shoe and the cover and, thus, the lateral dimension of the staple opening. The shoe may be of a three sided open box form with flanges for fixing holes. The cover may be of a reciprocal form and fits oveer the shoe to be secured by the screws.
