Abstract

Multiple contact switch such as a vehicle ignition or similar switch operated by rotation of a common contact carrying shaft. The switch design simplifies its manufacture and increases its ability to withstand mechanical shock and at the same time minimises the axial dimensions. Contact surfaces or cams occupy part of the insulated operating shaft, the take-off sprung electrodes bearing on the sides of the cats on the shaft. The take-off electrodes (9, 91) are rooted in a laminated base block (8) which can include an elastomer insert (26) if the electrode thickness has to be increased in order to survive high shock levels.
