Abstract

Procédé de préparation d'amidons et de farines cationiques et nouveaux produits ainsi obtenus. Dans ce procédé, on fait réagir des matières contenant de l'amidon, à l'état sec, avec une halohydrine à un pH de 9 ou moins, sans qu'il soit nécessaire de procéder à une neutralisation ou à un lavage ultérieur par un alcali. La présente invention est particulièrement utile pour fournir des produits à propriétés cationiques remarquablement supérieures aux amidons cationiques de la technique antérieure, dans une large gamme de pH alcalins et acides, ces produits étant utilisés dans la fabrication de papier comme agents d'amélioration de la résistance à l'état sec et comme agents de rétention de pigment.
