Abstract

Detector incorporating a luminophore also includes a scintillator for ionising radiation and is made in the form of a single block combining the scintillator with a luminophore possessing an excitation spectrum of thermoluminescence covering the radiation spectrum of the scintillator. In recording X and gamma radiation, the scintillator is pref. a material possessing a fixed relation between the response of the scintillations and the energy of the X and gamma radiations and the luminophore is a material, pref. strontium sulphide activated by samarium and terbium, possessing different peaks of thermal de-activation during excitation by X and gamma radiation and by the scintillator radiation. Used in the individual dosimetry of an X, gamma or neutron radiation in industry, medicine, radio-bilogy and in experimental work in physics. It makes possible the recording of ionising radiations of different types because of the sepn. of the function of absorption, fulfilled by the scintillator, and the function of storage of the dosimetric information, fulfilled by the liminophore.
