Abstract

The concealed door-locking mechanism is primarily for use on hollow metal framed doors and comprises a multi-bolt-lock (S) with 'floating' transmission rods (11, 12). The lock and the rods are respectively fixed and amount within the volume delineated by the two major faces (92) of the door. The rods (11, 12) slide axially under the action of the relevant (22, 23) bolts, and their mountings provide guidage with recoil springing (R) ensuring their contact with the bolts (22, 23) at all times. The lock (S) may be key-operated with a latch-bolt (24) and three dead-bolts. The latch bolt (24) and one dead-bolt (25) act horizontally to engage staples in the door-post whilst the remaining dead bolts (22, 23) act vertically in opposite directions. The rods (11, 12) extend between the vertical dead bolts (22, 23) to engage staples (G) at the head and foot of the door, and locate in a hollow vertical member (C) which frames the edge of the door. The springs (R) are retained by washers (20, 21) which are cottered (9) on the rods and by drilled brackets (18, 19) which are fixed to the door.
