Abstract

L'invention concerne les dispositifs à cristaux liquides. Le procédé faisant l'objet de l'invention est caractérisé en ce que les matrices pour l'orientation homogène du cristal liquide et les éléments polarisants sont réalisés simultanément, en appliquant sur les lames 1 un gel 3 de colorant dichroïque d'une concentration de 1 à 30 % en poids, en soumettant ensuite ledit gel à un traitement mécanique pour créer un film 4 avec un gradient de vitesse, suivant son épaisseur de 10**2 à 10**7 s**-1, et en éliminant le solvant contenu dans le film. L'invention s'applique notamment aux dispositifs à films de cristal liquide nématique utilisant les effets de champ et employés dans les dispositifs indicateurs (notamment les montres-bracelets, les petites calculatrices), les modulateurs optiques, les systèmes matriciels d'affichage lumineux.
