Abstract

A rotary drum has longitudinally extending apertured tubes circumferentially spaced on its inner surface and connected via drum wall bores with a fixed annular channel that surrounds the drum and receives a heating medium for introduction via the tubes. Heating the drum contents in de-barking or composting processes. Arrangement affords a continuous operation.
