Abstract

La présente invention concerne des particules expansibles de polymere de styrène. On prépare des particules expansibles de polymère de styrène ayant une inflammabilité reduite en incorporant de 0,1 à 15 % en poids de composés organiques halogénés non-polymères dans le polymère durant l'imprégnation des particules de polymère avec un agent gonflant en suspension aqueuse. L'addition de 0,001 à 0,5 % en poids de maléates ou fumarates de dialcoylétain durant l'étape d'imprégnation produit des particules expansibles de polymère de styrène ayant des caractéristiques de moulage notablement améliorées telles qu'une tendance réduite à l'élagage, une fusion accrue dans le moule et une plus grande stabilité dimensionnelle. Application des ces particules comme matériau d'isolation thermique.
