Abstract

A tobacco-based liq. paste is run through a pin disc grinding mill which reduces the cross-section of fibre bundles in the paste. The paste is then put subjected to an extn. process, pref. using filter presses, to separate hydrosol. components from fibrous material. The fibrous material is made into a thin continuous sheet of reconstituted tobacco by conventional paper-making machinery. Sepd. hydrosoluble components, esp. after concn., are pred. used to impregnate the continuous sheet as it is being formed. Any part of the tobacco leaf can be introduced as well as cellulosic material and additives.
