Abstract

A micro-method for identifying bacteria comprises using a heamalysis tube or a microtitration plate. Bacterial colonies obtd. on an isolation medium are used and are identified using reactants such as a conc. modified Koser soln. a brath, a base medium for sugar fermentations, conc., aq. sugar solns; a medium for finding acetoin, beta-galactoxidase and reductase nitrate, urease, deaminated tryptophane and indole, gelatinase, lysine decarboxylase, ornithine decarboxylase, and mediums for verifying the use of citrate or malonate. The process is esp. usef for identifying enterobacteria. The process is rapid, cheap and does not require special appts. unlike previous rapid methods.
