Abstract

The snowshoes have the traditional leather thonging replaced by polyamide plastic lacing. The plasting, being water resistant prevents a build-up of snow and ice on the show due to freezing and sticking of water on the leather. Each shoe has a frame of ash wood, bent to an elongated oval with the ends fastened together to form a rear stabilising extension. Transversal ribbing is provided and the lacing is passed transversely across and in two opposing diagonal directions. An aperture is left for accommoding the foot fitting, this being a heel strap and toe retainer cap mounted on a support.
