Abstract

The cartridge fuse assembly, for domestic electrical appliances, consists of an insulating housing and contains two contacts connected to the incoming and outgoing conductors. An insulating fuse holder allows the cartridge caps to touch the two contacts and consists of a male part engaging a female part. The female part may be elastic and fixed whilst the male part may be inelastic and movable or vice-versa. The elastic part is made inaccessible to anyone not possessing the appropriate tool. The latter is typically a pencil shaped member with a sharp tap enabling the side of the female portion to be moved aside to permit release of the male portion.
