Abstract

The brake is used on a ski (1) to prevent running away when the safety bindings release the foot. It operates automatically, an arm (2, 3) each side dropping below the ski to dig into the snow. Each arm forms part of a shaped rigid wire loop (9, 10, 11) extending transversely outwards (10a) each side to form hinge bearings. These are spaced one behind the other and their inner faces are in contact with a cam (15) each side. The cams are part of the heel locking grip (6) and elastically deform the loop as the user steps into the ski and presses down the loop or pedal (11).
