Abstract

The data processing system has a central unit (1) and can process data contained on perforated tape and on cards. The system has a tape reader/perforator and a card reader/perforator connected to a switching circuit (6, 6'). The switching unit (6, 6') is controlled by a control unit (7, 7'). The switching unit (6, 6') connects one or the other input readers to the central unit (1). An input consisting of a tape reader and a card reader is connected respectively by a tape connection system and a card connection system to a switching circuit (6) connected to the central unit (1). The switching circuit (6) is linked by a control unit (7) which ensures the connection of one of the other readers (2, 3).
