Abstract

The driving mirror is fitted to the car using a simple mounting (11) on which the mirror is fitted with spring back axes secured by a spring ratchet. The mirror itself is mounted in its housing (1) to adjust about two orthogonal axes. A single joystick (16) on the inside of the vehicle is linked to the two tilt mechanisms (20, 28) through the hollow mounting foot and using open forks as coupling links. The couplings are thus readily detached when the mirror swings back if struck. The adjustment has few moving parts and is simple to produce and operate.
