Abstract

The plastics latch for connecting the ends of a tension band has a lever pivoted to one end of the band and an over-centre link connected between the lever and the other end of the band. At each end of the band the pivoted connection comprises a flat strip (2) with a bearing (11) formed on it and having lugs (8) which extend through holes in the strip and are welded to it. A light weld is sufficient because the shear stress on tightening of the band is taken by the lugs and the material defining the holes. The strip may be a 180 deg. fold defining the bearing at its bight.
