Abstract

Batten for shuttleless loom comprises a reed of which the dents outside the zone of action of the temples onto the warp threads are made of plastics matl. Pref. they are made of plastics reinforced with fibres. The wt. of the batten is thus reduced by =50% compared with that of a wide batten having dents made exclusively of steel for which the zone of action of the temples is relatively small. The matl. of the dents provides sufficient strength and elasticity to allow biassing of the end dents in the weft direction due to contraction of the fabric.
