Abstract

The air intake manifold (7) is fitted with a conventional throttle valve (6). Upstream of this valve and below the fuel intake venturi is a choke valve (4) which is connected to an operating lever (3) which joins onto a tie rod (2). The tie rod is fixed to one side of a manometric capsule (1) which is held in position by a lever (8) and a return spring (9). The pressure on the upper side of the diaphragm is measured at the air intake (7) downstream of the throttle valve. Variations in the intake air pressure will cause the choke valve to move between fully open and fully shut.
