Abstract

The tree trunk cutting apparatus with a straddle frame which moves on rails above a truck laden with tree trunks, and from which a cutting chain is lowered so as to cut a length from all the logs at once, as in the main patent, includes in addition a framework (31) also spanning the loaded truck, which has an extension (32) each end carrying rollers (320) so that it can move up and down vertical guides on the straddle frame and having two rows of teeth (331, 341) attached by sleeves (330, 440) to horizontals (33, 34) so that they can travel up and down and this assembly is lowered to contact the uneven top layer of trunks so as to locate them immediately before the sawing action takes place.
