Abstract

The transmission permits knob rotation in either sense, and adapts simply for clockwise or anti-clockwise rotating latch bolt spindles, converting knob rotation in either sense into a uni-directional translation, which is finally converted into rotation of the latch bolt spindle. The knob axle (5) has a double headed (7, 8) eccentric (6), a 'U' (11, 12) tailed slide bar (9) with inclined nose (13) connecting between the eccentric (6) and a latch bolt spindle (16) eccentric (15). Clockwise knob rotation moves the bolt via elements (8, 12, 13, 14) reverse knob rotation uses elements (7, 11, 13, 14). The slide bar (9) is inverted for left hand locks.
