Abstract

Photometric apparatus for several types of instruments e.g. a colorimeter, nephelometer, has a pair of optical fibres (1, 2) between a light source (3) and a photodetector (6). The emitting fibre (1) and face (7) is opposite the light source (3) while that (8) of the receiving fibre (2) is opposite the detector (6). The other end faces (7, 8) are placed inside a cavity (5) which receives a minimum quantity of liquid sample for investigation. Light from the source (3) is transmitted into the cavity from the end face (7) of the emitting fibre (1), crosses the sample, passes into the end face (8) of the receiving fibre (2) and thus reaches the photodetector (6).
